Frigidaire Refrigerator Error Code SY FS: Meaning and Fix

On a refrigerator the code shows on the control panel or dispenser display. Some models flash a letter or alternate two characters; hold the code in view and note both. Frigidaire models show E, F or i codes depending on the appliance.

Frigidaire is an Electrolux brand and shares platforms with the Electrolux line. Washers and dryers use E codes, ranges use F codes, dishwashers use i codes, and refrigerators show SY codes. The codes apply to model numbers such as FGID2466QF, FFBD2412SW and FFRE4120SW; check the label on your unit to confirm yours.

Part numbers are OEM references; confirm fit by your model number before ordering. Some links are affiliate links; we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What does the SY FS code mean on a Frigidaire refrigerator?

The freezer temperature thermistor is open or shorted.

Can I fix the SY FS code myself?

Often yes. The most likely repair is the defrost thermostat / sensor, a part most owners can swap with basic hand tools after unplugging the appliance, and it is usually quicker than a service visit.

How do I clear the SY FS code?

Unplug the refrigerator for five minutes (or switch off its breaker), then plug it in and watch the display. If SY FS comes back, the underlying fault is still there; start with this: failed thermistor.

Part numbers are OEM references; confirm fit by your model number before ordering. Meanings compiled from manufacturer and parts-retailer documentation; see sources below. Unplug the appliance before opening it.

Applies to models including FFSS2615TS, FFHT1832TS, LFHB2751TF.
