GE Dishwasher Error Code E1: Meaning and Fix

Reading the dishwasher display
A dishwasher reports its fault in the display window, or by blinking a cycle light a set number of times with a pause between groups. Count the blinks and pauses before opening the door. GE writes letters and numbers together with no space, so E22 is one code, not E2 and 2.
GE Appliances, now owned by Haier, mixes legacy GE boards with newer connected platforms. Washers and dryers tend to use E or D codes, ranges and microwaves use F codes, and refrigerators show Er codes. The codes apply to model numbers such as GDF630PSMSS, GDT665SSNSS and GTD65EBSJ0WS; check the label on your unit to confirm yours.

Questions
What does the E1 code mean on a GE dishwasher?
The dishwasher did not fill in time.
Can I fix the E1 code myself?
Often yes. The most likely repair is the water inlet valve, a part most owners can swap with basic hand tools after unplugging the appliance, and it is usually quicker than a service visit.
How do I clear the E1 code?
Switch off the dishwasher breaker or hold Cancel/Drain, wait a few minutes and run a short rinse. If E1 comes back, the underlying fault is still there; start with this: supply closed.
