GE Range Error Code F4: Meaning and Fix

Reading the range display
On a range or oven the fault appears on the clock or oven display, often with a beep. Press Cancel or Clear once to silence it, and write the code down first. GE writes letters and numbers together with no space, so E22 is one code, not E2 and 2.
GE Appliances, now owned by Haier, mixes legacy GE boards with newer connected platforms. Washers and dryers tend to use E or D codes, ranges and microwaves use F codes, and refrigerators show Er codes. The codes apply to model numbers such as GDF630PSMSS, GDT665SSNSS and GTD65EBSJ0WS; check the label on your unit to confirm yours.

Questions
What does the F4 code mean on a GE range?
The oven sensor circuit reads shorted.
Can I fix the F4 code myself?
Often yes. The most likely repair is the oven temperature sensor, a part most owners can swap with basic hand tools after unplugging the appliance, and it is usually quicker than a service visit.
How do I clear the F4 code?
Press Clear/Off, then cut power to the oven at the breaker for five minutes before restoring it. If F4 comes back, the underlying fault is still there; start with this: pinched harness.
