LiftMaster Opener Error Code Yellow Learn LED rapid flash: Meaning and Fix

Also shown as: Yellow light flashing fast, Learn button LED flashing continuously
Reading the opener display
A garage door opener reports faults through blinking LEDs on the motor head, a diagnostic window on the logic board, or the wall control. Count the flashes slowly and repeat the count before you decide what you saw. On LiftMaster the Learn button color and the count of flashes together identify the board.
LiftMaster, from the Chamberlain Group, is the professional-installer line. Its openers with a yellow Learn button report faults as LED flash counts or two-digit diagnostic codes such as 1-1 or 4-5 on the logic board. The codes apply to model numbers such as 8500W and 87504-267; check the label on your unit to confirm yours.
What causes Yellow Learn LED rapid flash
- A remote, mini-remote or visor clip with a button wedged down by a seat, keys or a bent case
- A weak or leaking coin cell that makes the control transmit constantly
- A wall control with a shorted pushbutton
- A wireless keypad with a swollen battery or a sticky key
How to fix it
- Pull the battery out of each remote and the keypad one at a time, and watch the yellow LED after each removal.
- When the flashing stops, you have found the device that was transmitting; clean around the button or swap its battery.
- If it starts flashing again with fresh batteries, replace that remote or keypad and re-learn it with the Learn button.
- Check the wall control wiring for a pinched wire if the flashing continues with every wireless device unpowered.
- Unplug the opener for 30 seconds and power it back on to clear the fault memory.

Questions
Why is the yellow light on my LiftMaster opener flashing quickly?
The opener is hearing a continuous signal from a paired remote or keypad whose button is stuck. Pull batteries one device at a time to find it.
Can a stuck button drain my car remote battery?
Yes. A button held down transmits constantly, which kills a coin cell in days instead of years.
Do I need a new logic board?
Rarely. The cause is nearly always a remote or keypad, not the board.
