Samsung Dryer Error Code tS: Meaning and Fix

Also shown as: t5, tC, tO, t0, tE, tE3, tC5, tCS, 1 tC
Reading the dryer display
On a dryer the code shows in the time-remaining window or as blinking status lights. Write down the characters before you press anything, because starting a new cycle usually clears the display. Samsung codes combine a digit with a letter, and some alternate with the cycle time.
Samsung displays numeric-plus-letter codes such as 4C, 5E or 21E, and many models run a Smart Care self-check through the app. Washers and dryers often use letter pairs, refrigerators use number plus E. The codes apply to model numbers such as DW80R5061US, DW80K7050US and DV45T6000EW; check the label on your unit to confirm yours.
What causes tS
- Clogged lint screen or lint housing
- Thermistor reading out of range
- Loose or damaged sensor wiring
- Control board fault
- Vent duct crushed, long or packed with lint
How to fix it
- Pull the lint screen, wash it with soap and water and let it dry, then vacuum the lint slot.
- Disconnect the vent hose and clean the full run to the outside wall; replace crushed foil or vinyl duct.
- Run a short air-fluff cycle with the vent open to see if the code clears.
- Check the thermistor connector at the sensor for a loose or burnt plug.
- Test the thermistor with a multimeter against the resistance in your service sheet.
- Replace the thermistor, then the control board if the reading stays wrong.

Questions
Does the upside down F mean something different?
No. Samsung displays a stylised lowercase t, so it is the same temperature family.
Is a clogged vent really the cause so often?
Yes. Trapped heat makes the sensor read high, and the dryer shuts down to protect itself.
Can I keep using the dryer?
Not until the vent is cleared. Restricted airflow is a fire hazard.
