Samsung Washer Error Code 4C: Meaning and Fix

Reading the washer display
On a washer the code appears on the digital display or as a pattern of flashing cycle lights. Note it exactly, including any dashes or sub-codes, then unplug the washer for five minutes and run a short drain cycle to see whether it returns. Samsung codes combine a digit with a letter, and some alternate with the cycle time.
Samsung displays numeric-plus-letter codes such as 4C, 5E or 21E, and many models run a Smart Care self-check through the app. Washers and dryers often use letter pairs, refrigerators use number plus E. The codes apply to model numbers such as DW80R5061US, DW80K7050US and DV45T6000EW; check the label on your unit to confirm yours.
What causes 4C
- Hot or cold faucet only partly open
- Supply hose kinked, or the mesh screen in the inlet clogged with sediment
- Low household water pressure
- Drain hose kinked or set too deep, confusing the level reading
- Failed water inlet valve coil
How to fix it
- Open both faucets all the way and confirm each hose sits on the matching inlet (hot to hot, cold to cold).
- Pull the washer forward, straighten any kinks and make sure no Flood Safe style hoses are fitted, as Samsung does not support them.
- Shut the water off, unscrew each hose at the washer and rinse the small screens inside the inlet ports.
- Check the drain hose is not pushed in more than about 6 inches and is not bent.
- Unplug the washer (or flip its breaker) for one minute, restore power and run a short rinse.
- If the screens are clean and water flow at the faucet is strong but nothing enters the tub, replace the water inlet valve.

Is 4C the same as nF?
Yes. Both point to a fill problem; the label depends on the model and display type.
Can low water pressure cause 4C?
It can. The inlet valves need steady pressure, so a half-open shutoff or weak supply line can trigger it.
Do I need a technician?
Usually not. Most cases clear after opening a valve or cleaning the inlet screens; only a dead inlet valve needs a part.
