Samsung Washer Error Code LC: Meaning and Fix

Also shown as: LE, 1E, 1C, LC1, 1 LC
Reading the washer display
On a washer the code appears on the digital display or as a pattern of flashing cycle lights. Note it exactly, including any dashes or sub-codes, then unplug the washer for five minutes and run a short drain cycle to see whether it returns. Samsung codes combine a digit with a letter, and some alternate with the cycle time.
Samsung displays numeric-plus-letter codes such as 4C, 5E or 21E, and many models run a Smart Care self-check through the app. Washers and dryers often use letter pairs, refrigerators use number plus E. The codes apply to model numbers such as DW80R5061US, DW80K7050US and DV45T6000EW; check the label on your unit to confirm yours.
What causes LC
- Too much detergent or non-HE detergent creating suds
- Drain hose kinked, or its securing screw missing
- Faulty water level pressure switch
- Small leak at a hose, door seal or drain connection
How to fix it
- Look around and under the washer for any water, even a damp patch.
- Check supply and drain hoses for kinks and tighten connections; reinstall the drain hose holder on the back if it came off.
- Run an empty cycle with no additives. If suds appear, keep running empty cycles until they stop, then use only HE detergent in the right amount.
- Inspect the door boot for tears or trapped debris.
- Reset power for a minute and test again.
- If there is no leak and no suds, have the water level pressure switch and control board tested.

Questions
Is LC always a real leak?
No. Excess suds are a very common false trigger, and a faulty sensor can do the same.
Which detergent should I use?
HE detergent only, measured to the line. Standard detergent makes far too much foam for a front loader.
Can I keep using the washer?
Stop until you have checked for water; a real leak can damage flooring.
