Samsung Washer Error Code 4C2: Meaning and Fix

Also shown as: 4E2, nF1, CE, 14C2
Reading the washer display
On a washer the code appears on the digital display or as a pattern of flashing cycle lights. Note it exactly, including any dashes or sub-codes, then unplug the washer for five minutes and run a short drain cycle to see whether it returns. Samsung codes combine a digit with a letter, and some alternate with the cycle time.
Samsung displays numeric-plus-letter codes such as 4C, 5E or 21E, and many models run a Smart Care self-check through the app. Washers and dryers often use letter pairs, refrigerators use number plus E. The codes apply to model numbers such as DW80R5061US, DW80K7050US and DV45T6000EW; check the label on your unit to confirm yours.
What causes 4C2
- Hot hose attached to the cold inlet and cold hose to the hot inlet
- Hoses reconnected backwards after a move or reinstall
- Household plumbing reversed at the faucets
How to fix it
- Run each faucet briefly and note which hose carries the warm water.
- Turn the water off and unscrew both hoses from the back of the washer.
- Reconnect cold to the cold inlet and hot to the hot inlet (typically blue to blue and red to red), hand tight plus a quarter turn.
- Open the water, restore power and run a short cycle to confirm the code is gone.

Questions
Does this code mean the washer is broken?
No. It is normally an installation mix-up.
How do I tell hot from cold?
Run the faucet and feel the hose; the warm one is hot. Many hoses also have red and blue markings.
What if the code returns after swapping?
Then the household plumbing itself may be reversed at the wall, and the plumbing should be corrected.
