LG Washer Error Code Sud: Meaning and Fix

Also shown as: SUD
Reading the washer display
On a washer the code appears on the digital display or as a pattern of flashing cycle lights. Note it exactly, including any dashes or sub-codes, then unplug the washer for five minutes and run a short drain cycle to see whether it returns. LG codes are short letter pairs; a capital O differs from a zero.
LG appliances show short alphabetic codes (OE, IE, UE on washers, Er plus letters on refrigerators) and, on ThinQ models, a Smart Diagnosis option. LG also builds many Kenmore Elite units. The codes apply to model numbers such as LDF7774ST, LDT5678SS and DLEX3900B; check the label on your unit to confirm yours.
What causes Sud
- Too much detergent

How to fix it
- Let the suds-removal cycle finish.
- Use only HE detergent in the amount on the label.
- Cut the dose further if your water is soft.
- Run a Tub Clean cycle to clear residue.
- Check that the liquid cup is in place in the main wash compartment.
